The Bab field is located in a desert area, approximately 160 km southwest of Abu Dhabi. The field covers an area of approximately 45 km by 25 km. The main processing facilities are located around Bab Habshan. The field is sour with high H2S content. Bab injects aquifer water into the producing zones as the pressure maintenance strategy. Associated gas separated at the BCDS is delivered to GASCO for processing and processed Crude Oil is pumped to ADCO export network.

The Bab Integrated Facilities Project (BIFP) will deliver surface facilities for Thamama-A, Thamama-H and Thamama-B (Updip & Attic) to achieve a total sustainable oil production rate of 450 MBOPD.

Petrofac was appointed by ADCO to perform the FEED (Front End Engineering & Design) for the full field development of Thamama-A/H and Thamama B-Updip & Attic surface facilities.  Petrofac in turn appointed EPConsult Energies (EPEn) to provide independent facilitation of the FEED Project Risk Assessment (PRA).

EPEn facilitated the PRA during a workshop held at Petrofac’s offices in March 2014 attended by experienced ADCO & Petrofac personnel.

The purpose of this PRA Workshop was to identify any risks to the timely completion of the project and to conduct a qualitative assessment of the same, with reference to cost, schedule, reputation and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE). One of the key deliverables from the PRA was the FEED Project Risk Register.

EPEn also performed a HAZID for the same project.
